Size Guide
At Antigua Clothing, every vintage piece is hand-selected for its timeless design, beautiful construction, and distinctive character. Because vintage sizing often differs from today’s standards, we provide detailed measurements and guidance to help you find your perfect fit.
How We Measure
Each garment is measured flat, with care and consistency, using the following points:
Shoulders – Seam to seam, straight across the back
Bust – Underarm to underarm, doubled for full circumference
Waist – Measured at the narrowest point, doubled
Hips – Measured at the fullest point, doubled
Length – From shoulder to hem
Sleeve Length – From shoulder seam to cuff
You’ll find these measurements listed with each item, along with notes on fabric, stretch, and how the piece is intended to fit.
Understanding Vintage Sizing
Vintage garments often reflect older sizing standards — a “Size 12” on the original label may wear more like a modern UK 8. Because of this, we recommend focusing on the garment's actual measurements rather than the label size.
Where possible, we include an estimated modern UK size to help guide your selection.
| UK Size | Bust (cm/in) | Waist (cm/in) | Hips (cm/in) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 80 cm / 31.5 in | 62 cm / 24.5 in | 86 cm / 34 in |
| 8 | 84 cm / 33 in | 66 cm / 26 in | 90 cm / 35.5 in |
| 10 | 88 cm / 34.5 in | 70 cm / 27.5 in | 94 cm / 37 in |
| 12 | 92 cm / 36 in | 74 cm / 29 in | 98 cm / 38.5 in |
| 14 | 97 cm / 38 in | 79 cm / 31 in | 103 cm / 40.5 in |
| 16 | 102 cm / 40 in | 84 cm / 33 in | 108 cm / 42.5 in |
| 18 | 109 cm / 43 in | 91 cm / 36 in | 115 cm / 45 in |
Please note that these are general guidelines. Exact measurements for each piece are provided in its listing.
